Mya + Jake
A Romantic July Wedding at The Venue at Birchwood | Nashville, TN
Some wedding days feel extra special from the very beginning—and Jake and Mya’s July wedding at The Venue at Birchwood was absolutely one of them.
Jake and Mya met while attending the University of Kentucky, and their journey together had since taken them into service in the U.S. Army. Recently relocating, they chose to celebrate their marriage just outside the Nashville area, surrounded by the people who have supported them every step of the way.
As a Nashville wedding photographer, I get to witness so many beautiful love stories—but this day stood out for its intentionality, emotion, and the way this couple truly lived in every moment.
The Venue at Birchwood: A Dream Nashville-Area Wedding Venue
Nestled just outside of Nashville, The Venue at Birchwood is a stunning Middle Tennessee wedding venue that blends Southern charm with timeless elegance. The property features open green spaces, mature trees, and a beautiful white chapel that photographs incredibly in every season.
One of my favorite things about Birchwood is how thoughtfully designed it is for wedding days, everything flows naturally, allowing couples to stay present instead of feeling rushed. The chapel, in particular, is filled with soft natural light, making it an absolute dream for emotional moments and intimate portraits.
A Rainy Start That Turned Into Something Beautiful
Like many summer weddings in Tennessee, the day began with a little weather. A rainstorm passed through just before the ceremony, but instead of dampening the mood, it added to the anticipation. As the rain cleared, the grounds felt refreshed and romantic and in perfect timing for outdoor photos.
Those post-rain portraits ended up being some of the most magical images of the day, with soft light, rich greenery, and a calm, joyful energy that felt earned.
A First Look Filled With Emotion
Before the ceremony, Jake and Mya shared a first look inside the chapel, and it was one of the sweetest moments to photograph. Wrapped in beautiful natural light, they exchanged private vows, words that were thoughtful, heartfelt, and deeply personal.
These quiet moments, away from the crowd, allowed them to connect fully before the day unfolded and the emotion on their faces said everything.
A Day Focused on Presence & Connection
What made this wedding truly special was how intentionally Jake and Mya approached their day. They didn’t rush through moments or treat the timeline like a checklist. Instead, they soaked it all in, laughing with friends, embracing family, and taking time to simply be together.
From a photographer’s perspective, these are the days that tell the most beautiful stories. The genuine smiles, the in-between glances, and the unplanned moments with loved ones are what make wedding photos timeless.
A Thoughtfully Designed Celebration
Every detail of the day was brought together seamlessly by an incredible vendor team. Planning and design by @violet.vines.events elevated the entire experience, while support and inspiration from @southerneventsonline helped create a celebration that felt both elegant and personal. And of course, hosting the day at @birchwoodtn provided the perfect backdrop for such a meaningful celebration.
A Perfect Middle Tennessee Wedding Day
Rain or shine, this day was filled with love, intention, and connection—and it was an honor to capture the beginning of their next chapter together.
If you’re planning a Nashville-area wedding and looking for a venue that offers charm, flexibility, and incredible light, The Venue at Birchwood is truly something special.
